Why apply body sunscreen?
Sunburn: enemy number 1 in July and August. To avoid redness on your shoulders and bust or to avoid a streaky tan on your feet, your best ally is undoubtedly a body sunscreen. In small or large format, it must be an integral part of your summer routine. It is also necessary to apply it several times during the day to maintain its effectiveness.
Sunscreen helps protect the skin from ultraviolet radiation and slows down skin aging. Last but not least, it reduces skin cancer.
To best choose a body sunscreen suitable for your skin, consider the following criteria:
- Sun Protection Factor (SPF) : this is the most important criterion to protect yourself. This index oscillates between 50 and 15. The first is suitable for the skin of the smallest and for very fair skin. As for the second one, it is effective on black skin. Always start with the highest index at the beginning of summer and reduce by one level at the end when the skin is more tanned.
- Phototype : every skin is unique and reacts differently to the sun’s rays. There are several phototypes depending on skin tone, hair and eye color. Once you know your phototypeyou can choose the most suitable protection for your skin.
- Ingredients : many creams are still composed of ingredients that are toxic to the skin but also to the environment. Among them we find especially parabens and silicone. So that these chemical components do not end up in the sea, be selective mineral or organic sunscreens.
