VIDEO – Lake Annecy: You haven’t seen everything yet!

The TF1 13H invites you to discover Lake Annecy from a different angle.
It hides many secrets, such as the wreck of France, a large steamship that attracts thousands of divers and photographers every year.

In the middle of the mountains, at an altitude of 450 meters, these clear waters hide a secret. It is one of the greatest mysteries of the city of Annecy, a wreck submerged at a depth of 42 meters. “Le France” is the last steamer from Annecy. First a ferry, then a prison, then a cruise ship, it sank without explanation one winter morning in 1971.

Exceptional conservation

To solve this mystery, these four divers will descend this cable into water at a temperature of 6 °C. Thanks to the beams of their flashlights, the bow of the ship is revealed. It’s a jump back in time. “It’s a bit like the movie Titanic, except the ship is smaller and the Titanic is deeper”confides in the TF1 13:00 video at the top of this article Philippe Roi, instructor of the diving club.

Thousands of fans discover the site every year. France is in an exceptional state of conservation thanks to fresh water. On the way back, the captain wants to show us another secret of Lake Annecy. This cave, which is not accessible on foot, is also a paradise for paddleboards and canoes.
