There is no age to fall in love and put a ring on your finger. And if the late volumes leave room for some questions, others are similar to those that trouble us in our thirties. What dress, what make-up, what hairstyle… We asked Delphine Courteille, studio hairdresser at the helm of her eponymous salon in Paris, about this last point. She tells us tips for a top wedding hairstyle after 50 years.
And the ideal wedding hairstyle after fifty is…
“One of the first things you need to do is to put aside overly classic hairstyles like buns or crown braids,” begins Delphine Courteille. The idea is to keep your natural hair and your usual hairstyle with a little extra sophistication.” The expert gives us three examples depending on the length of the hair.
On short hair
Brides over 50 can easily adopt the stylish tousled effect that is very trendy in recent seasons with short hair, with a touch of sophistication provided by the texturizing material. “Sharon Stone’s refined look that goes great with a jumpsuit,” says the pro.
On long hair
For those with long hair – respecting the ideal length according to hairdressers, that is, the one who says that it should not go beyond the shoulder blades – the wet hair look is one of the favorite cosmetic procedures. “So we pull the hair back in a well-pulled way, wet the roots and leave the natural lengths,” explains the pro. You can go even further by styling the lengths and creating slight waves.” The perfect combination of a textured slicked back look and a natural fresh look. A little rock, it’s “ideal for the beauty of winter brides,” explains Delphine Courteille.
For medium length hair
Finally, for those who have medium length hair, it is again sufficient to style the hair a little more than usual. “We can take inspiration from the hairstyles we see on today’s red carpets,” says the pro. A stylish look, but more relaxed than before. You have to keep your hairstyle fresh by adopting a tousled style with some hold.” Women with curly hair can straighten it and vice versa. Ties on loose hair can also be a good alternative. “We’ve already seen this kind of hairstyle on fashion shows or on red carpets. Stars such as Penélope Cruz or Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu appeared with a hairstyle, one side of which was elegantly held up by a clip and the other was only decorated with wavy waves. Very stylish!
